

He’d already completed the shoot for his final CBS television special Bing Crosby’s Merrie Olde Christmas, along with such collaborators as Ron Moody, Stanley Baxter, the Trinity Boys Choir, Twiggy, and a young fellow by the name of David Bowie. Of course, Bowie had long since achieved his own dream of fame, at least to the younger generation it was viewers who’d grown up listening to Crosby who needed an introduction. Much of his gallery work is thematically centred on transformation, archetypal forces, shifting paradigms, animals, and shamanic symbolism. Hailing from the east coast of Canada, Mugwort migrated to the forested shores of the west coast where he currently resides. As the artist elaborates, "I love to balance bright vibrant colors with the strange non-objective flows and goes sometimes using impasto to create the enhanced illusion of depth. Elements as opposite as cosmic matter and oil paint coexist in Nelson's newest works, revealing never-before-explored meanings, landscapes, and patterns. "I don't consciously base my work on anything, so how could it be abstracting?" explains the artist. Nelson's work is not to be defined as abstract. His emotive brushmarks appear to go from smooth and watery to choppy and expressionistic in the blink of an eye, creating that sense of perpetual motion which gives the exhibition its title. In CT's work, the wild waves of stormy seas mix with the eternal flames of the artist's inner metaphysical world. His painting skills allow him to catch that universal energy and fix it on his canvases while maintaining its powerful dynamic qualities.
